Guts n' Stuff

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve done a post about the house, but for good reason. The framing went up very quickly and it was easy to show that progress. In the mean while it seemed like everything was behind the scenes so to speak and all of it seperately would be rather bland. So let me catch everyone up to speed on what has been going on the last two weeks.

All of the plumbing and rough heat had been put in. Then Jim drove in from Chicago and Travis came over to help pull wires in the house. We put in video, phone, and internet lines through the house. I think something like 2 data, and 2 video in each bedroom, as well as some extras in certain areas of the house, like the garage and such. Everyone was a huge help! Thank you guys!!
Last weekend Travis came over, Nick showed up to help out, and Glenn came over to help pull the electric line to the house through 310ft of PVC conduit. Let me tell you that was quite a fun project. But if anyone has to do this I’m a seasoned veteran now. The insulation crew also showed up last Saturday to put in all the insulation. It took them like two hours for the entire house. However I have been putting in insulation ever since in the garage and certain interior walls for sound proofing purposes.

On Monday some contractors showed up to pour concrete. They poured the basement and crawl space on Monday and poured the porch and the garage on Tuesday. It’s amazing how concrete can makes things look really great. I was able to sneak a small patio brick into the poured concrete that I got my dremel on with.

Yesterday was inSANE. There was a delivery truck that got stuck turning around at the end of the lane, and he wasn’t even delivering to the house, just turning around. He was blocking both lanes of 989 tying up traffic for 30mins practically. We got him out and then the drywall delivery trucks were able to get in. All the drywall was delivered. A siding crew showed up to setup their rigs. And a team of two guys showed up and said that they were going to put in the garage doors and the basement windows. I was pumped, it didn’t take them very long. They were gone before I was finished insulating. So drywall should start tomorrow along with the siding. It’s been a crazy two weeks so enjoy the photos!

I’ll be posting more frequently now that the siding and drywall is going up, but I needed that break to show all the work that has happened without it seeming too boring. We’ll be painting the house in no time.
