Color

we’ve been painting since sunday. we have 1 coat of primer throughout the whole house and nearly 1 coat of color in the house. it’s going to be okay for us to get the entire house painted by sunday. all the trim and doors have been delivered and the cabinets are on the way. we also received perminant power last week, but we only have 1 outlet in the house, so it’s still a bit of a pain, try painting in the dark with only 1 outlet to work with.

these last few weeks are going to fly by. the krut’s have their rig in the yard and just got the well drilled two days ago, 4 gallon a minute at 270ft. comcast pulled their line through the conduit, now I just need to call Verizon so that I can get that trench filled in.

it’s all sorts of crazy at the house, check out all the fun pictures below. oh, and quit looking at this site and come help us paint!

thanks to: Mom & Glenno, Carol & George, Aunt Vickie & Uncle Bill, John & Kristie, Uncle John & Aunt Bonnie, Amanda & Travis, Rich & Jacob for coming out to help us paint this week!! We couldn’t have done it without you guys!

Dust

These guys showed up at 7am, I took these at 1pm. I’ll let them speak for themselves. (Update: sorry I just fixed all the linked that were broken.)

Guts n' Stuff

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve done a post about the house, but for good reason. The framing went up very quickly and it was easy to show that progress. In the mean while it seemed like everything was behind the scenes so to speak and all of it seperately would be rather bland. So let me catch everyone up to speed on what has been going on the last two weeks.

All of the plumbing and rough heat had been put in. Then Jim drove in from Chicago and Travis came over to help pull wires in the house. We put in video, phone, and internet lines through the house. I think something like 2 data, and 2 video in each bedroom, as well as some extras in certain areas of the house, like the garage and such. Everyone was a huge help! Thank you guys!!
Last weekend Travis came over, Nick showed up to help out, and Glenn came over to help pull the electric line to the house through 310ft of PVC conduit. Let me tell you that was quite a fun project. But if anyone has to do this I’m a seasoned veteran now. The insulation crew also showed up last Saturday to put in all the insulation. It took them like two hours for the entire house. However I have been putting in insulation ever since in the garage and certain interior walls for sound proofing purposes.

On Monday some contractors showed up to pour concrete. They poured the basement and crawl space on Monday and poured the porch and the garage on Tuesday. It’s amazing how concrete can makes things look really great. I was able to sneak a small patio brick into the poured concrete that I got my dremel on with.

Yesterday was inSANE. There was a delivery truck that got stuck turning around at the end of the lane, and he wasn’t even delivering to the house, just turning around. He was blocking both lanes of 989 tying up traffic for 30mins practically. We got him out and then the drywall delivery trucks were able to get in. All the drywall was delivered. A siding crew showed up to setup their rigs. And a team of two guys showed up and said that they were going to put in the garage doors and the basement windows. I was pumped, it didn’t take them very long. They were gone before I was finished insulating. So drywall should start tomorrow along with the siding. It’s been a crazy two weeks so enjoy the photos!

I’ll be posting more frequently now that the siding and drywall is going up, but I needed that break to show all the work that has happened without it seeming too boring. We’ll be painting the house in no time.

Everyone needs a roof

So over the past weekend the framers got the roof up and all of the windows in to finish up their job. Today a new crew came in and started putting on the shingles. On Monday though there was about 1.5 inches on snow laying on the second floor. I spent some time in the morning shoveling it out, there was still a bit left over but now it is slowly thawing.
Over the biter cold weekend Travis and Glenn helped me put in 310ft of PVC conduit in the trench so I can get some power, telephone, and cable to the house. That was super helpful, and although it was freezing outside, the Steinackers filled us all up with lots of hot soup, coffee, and hot chocolate.

Gettin' er done

Well a small set back, but progress was still made today. I guess the boom truck they use to lift up the trusses to the roof was broken down so they weren’t able to get the roof up today. However they decided to put in windows and doors and other stuff instead. So it wasn’t a complete wash and it doesn’t set the timeline back at all.
